RouBack this summer: from live tracking to live race insights

The summer months have come to an end and September is officially here! The past few months have been incredibly intensive, educational and successful for team RouBack. We would like to share an update on what we achieved this summer and how we continue to build a safer future for competitive cycling.

From single-day race to a multi-day stage race
Over the recent period, we tested our RouBack safety sensors during various cycling races. We are proud to highlight two major milestones from this past summer.
π΄ββοΈWest-Vlaanderen Cycling Tour
Our very first multi-day stage race! During this pilot, RouBack was actively used throughout the race to keep race management, officials, teams, parents, and supporters connected with the event. The final day was busier than ever, with a record number of 300+ live viewers. This high level of live interaction gave us valuable insights for scaling up to even larger events.
π΄ββοΈUCI 1.2 Altebra MuurClassic for Women Elite
At the finale of the Lotto Belgium Cup Women, riders battled for victory during the Altebra MuurClassic. Every rider was equipped with our RouBack safety sensor, allowing them to be followed every step of the way via our RouBack platform so supporters wouldn't miss a thing. Not only did the live tracking assist fans and officials, but the commentators from Proximus Pickx and the speakers also actively used our live data during the broadcast. A fantastic step forward for both fan experience and safety on the cobbles!
What users are telling us
In order to continuously improve our services, hardware and software, we sent out a satisfaction survey to the users of our RouBack platform following these pilots.
Feedback shows that the interactive map view is by far the most used feature. Beyond the safety aspect, the RouBack platform also adds significant value to the overall race experience. Over 65% of users say tracking their rider's position during the race is crucial. Additionally, live monitoring provides a considerable portion of respondents with clarity and confidence throughout the race.
The majority of users are able to easily locate riders on the map. This strong user experience serves as our foundation to further refine RouBack and make the search function even more intuitive. We are also receiving positive signals regarding data quality: most users experience the data as reliable to very reliable. We will keep enhancing this experience so users can rely on the information quickly and with confidence during the race.
With almost exclusively positive feedback, the results confirm that RouBack offers clear added value for both safety insights and the overall race experience. Thank you to everyone who took the time to fill out our survey. Your constructive feedback is essential for the further development of RouBack!
Thank you & here's to a safe autumn!
We would like to take this opportunity to warmly thank all organizers, federations, teams and supporters for their trust and enthusiasm during these past pilots. Together, we are getting one step closer to our goal: making cycling safer, more transparent, and easier to follow.
We wish everyone a fantastic, successful and above all safe end to the cycling season!
